I have just finished watching Crime 101 and to be honest I cannot stop thinking about it. It is not your typical heist film but there is something about it that really caught my attention. Let me tell you why

The film centres around Davis played by Chris Hemsworth who is a jewel thief but do not expect the usual flash and glamour of your run of the mill heist flicks. Davis is all about precision carefully selecting his targets. The way he pulls off his jobs feels gritty and raw there is nothing slick or polished here just a real unrefined take on crime. 

One of the standout elements is the car chases. These are not your typical high speed flawlessly choreographed pursuits you often see in action films. No these chases are messy. The drivers seem to be making it up as they go along and it feels far more genuine like they are simply trying to survive. It is chaotic but it works and in a way it is rather refreshing.

But here's the kicker — Crime 101 isn't really about the action. At its heart it's a character study, and it isn't just about Davis. The film dives deep into the lives of four characters each one trying to navigate a world that's stacked against them. There's a real sense of unpredictability in the story rather like you are inside these characters heads trying to make sense of their choices. 

The film carries this dark moody vibe almost like Michael Mann's Thief. Whilst it might feel a bit slow at times that's part of what makes it so intriguing. It isn't a film that hands you everything on a plate rather it's more like a puzzle that you have to work out bit by bit.
